Same Same But Different
Joanne, our sales manager, had the pleasure of handing over two recently completed homes this week.
Being semi-attached homes, construction was completed on both homes simultaneously, allowing their new owners to move in at the same time, creating a natural neighbourly bond.
Semi-attached homes, sometimes called duplexes, have been described as the “new way of living” as they help foster community spirit, a sense of belonging and security.

These homes are two separate dwellings with separate titles and adjoining walls.
With duplex homes, any shared externals need to match. Here both homes use Selkirks Cienna brick and Colorbond Woodland Grey roofing; however, all other elements can differ.
Not only do these two homes differ in colours, but they also differ in layout.
As you can see by the floor plans, while the three bedrooms, ensuite and bathroom are identical, one home has a walk-in butler’s pantry, corner kitchen and European laundry, while the other has a full-sized laundry with an island bench kitchen.
Internally, the colour schemes are completely different.
We have a darker more masculine navy kitchen with black bench tops and dark flooring. The other, soft greens and whites with a lighter floor.

Whatever their name, semi-detached or duplexed, it’s important that they feel like they belong together without being identical.
This allows you to make it your home with your own touches and personality.
They are popular on smaller blocks, as you maximise your land and reduce wasted space. They are particularly popular with investors who choose to live in one and rent the other one out and families who want to keep their loved ones close but give them their own space and independence.
