HIA Building Women Lunch
Recently, our own Tash from Lansell Homes had an amazing opportunity to connect with leading women in the building industry when she attended the HIA Building Women Lunch. Tash, along with her colleagues Sarah from Beaumont Tiles and Morgan from Residentia Group (Omega Appliances),were treated to inspiring insights from guest speaker Daisy Pearce,
Daisy is a true trailblazer in the world of AFL football. She made a significant mark as a commanding player for the Melbourne Demons during the inception of the AFLW, eventually captaining the team to their first premiership in 2022. Beyond her sports career, Daisy also holds high-profile roles in the media with the Seven Network and SEN. Impressively, she managed to balance her football career with her work as a midwife off the field.
Daisy’s story is one of determination and resilience, as she fought to be a part of a traditionally male-dominated sport. This resonated deeply with Tash, Sarah, and Morgan, as they navigate their own paths in a predominantly male-dominated industry.
According to Tash, the event was a fantastic opportunity to learn from Daisy’s journey and soak in her determination and grit. It also provided a wonderful platform to connect with other women in the industry, building valuable connections and a supportive network.
In addition to Daisy’s inspiring talk, Colleen May from the Victorian Homeless Fund also shared about their noble mission of building homes for individuals at risk of homelessness, particularly women and children escaping family violence. The charity receives kind support from the HIA, and through its network of builders and industry partners, they are able to provide homes on land generously provided by state and local governments.
Tash was deeply moved by the impactful work of the Victorian Homeless Fund, and she left the event with a profound sense of purpose, knowing that their contributions on the day were going toward a truly worthy cause.
