Kangaroo Flat, Golden Square boasts fastest growing population in Greater Bendigo region
Kangaroo Flat and Golden Square, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, continue to top the charts as Greater Bendigo’s fastest-growing suburbs.
In an interview with Bendigo Advertiser’s Tara Cosoleto, Lansell Homes’ own Jeff Smith said the data was unsurprising considering the popularity of the housing market in this area.
“We’ve seen a great rise in interest,” Mr Smith said. “We’re finding that people are drawn to the convenience of being in the south of Bendigo.
“People like Kangaroo Flat because you get all of the facilities of the city in Bendigo, and are closer to drive to Melbourne, but with the lifestyle of the country.”
Greg Fathers of Bendigo Property Plus agrees. In the article, he attributes the accessibility to public transport and the growing shopping precincts as positives for many people moving into Kangaroo Flat and Golden Square.
All these factors make these suburbs prime property for investors.
“The Melbourne market is too expensive for many people,” Mr Smith notes. “Bendigo is really cost effective but in somewhere like Kangaroo Flat, you can get a house and land package for $350,000. You can’t buy blocks of land for that sort of money in Melbourne.”
Mr Smith said he expected the popularity of the region to continue in the future.
“We can’t see it changing any time soon,” he said.
