Young Industry Ambassador
This year, I’m excited to learn more about being a Young Industry Ambassador (YIA) for Goldfields Local Learning and Employment Network (GLLEN).
YIA’s are trained to share their own career pathways with students in upper primary and secondary schools. These stories help to show how diverse everyone’s career pathways can be, that there is no ‘one right way’ to achieve career goals.
Initially, I was hesitant about volunteering as I’m not confident about public speaking. But after attending my first meeting earlier this month for new YIA’s, I was won over. It was exciting to meet everyone- the other prospective YIA’s, and the staff at GLENN. They were all very passionate about going out and sharing their various journeys into the workforce and industry. Their passion is what fully inspired me to want to become a YIA.
